Introduction to Comparative Planetology

An Introduction to Comparative Planetology analyzes visual cultures of Earth imagery from the perspective of the geopolitics of the climate crisis. It compares different "figures" of the planet - Planetary, Global, Terrestrial, Earth-without-us, and Phantom Earth - and assesses their geopolitical implications. These are then translated in the book into the ability or inability of any one figure to contribute to building the infrastructural space for planetary coordination of our design interventions that could avert accelerating global warming and ultimately mass species extinction.
